Photography Without Borders is an organization dedicated to teaching students film and digital photography. Their curriculum involves giving students the technical and professional knowledge of taking headshots or working with clients as well as encouraging them to cultivate their unique artistic vision and self expression through photography.
Self/Reflection features work from students in Photography Without Borders Youth Artist Program at Taller Puertorriqueño. The featured photographers have a rich cultural background from Puerto Rico, Mexico and are either in high school or currently transitioning into college or a career. Through this program, they have been exposed to the complexities of being a professional photographer while also being creative and making work that is their own artistic expression. These up and coming artists have explored their identities through photography and the photographs featured in Self/Reflection demonstrate their experience.
The partnership between PL130 Gallery and Photography Without Borders has created a generous and meaningful opportunity for students to exhibit their work in Center City at no cost.
