Lines envelop and define our everyday surroundings. We enjoyed this submission for how the composition is split by the wall on the left and the bannister on the right, creating a busy epicenter within the middle diagonal of the shot. The lines of the chairs, rugs, and infrastructure are unified in their direction, pointing the viewer’s eyes up toward the top right corner, providing the photo with a cohesive flow. The structure of the wall also provides those sitting by the windows with anonymity, perfectly obstructing their faces. Ultimately, the focus on lines turns this otherwise very ordinary moment into a cinematic scene.
